Karl Lagally, DO
Dr. Karl Lagally is a board-certified Family Medicine physician who practices evidence-based medicine with a focus on improving overall health and well-being to help prevent and treat illness.
He is a graduate of Penn State University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Lagally completed his Family Medicine residency at Virtua Health System in New Jersey and has been with PrimeCare since 2007.
Dr. Lagally is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and has experience caring for patients of all ages. He is committed to providing thoughtful, comprehensive primary care with an emphasis on prevention, long-term wellness, and evidence-based treatment.
Amanda Stapleton, FNP-C
Amanda Stapleton is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of healthcare experience in family medicine, urgent care, pediatrics, and emergency care.
She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Purdue Global University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from George Mason University. Amanda is passionate about providing evidence-based, patient-centered care across all ages, with a special interest in women’s, children’s, and elder health.
Her extensive clinical training includes pediatrics, women’s health, and family medicine, building a strong foundation for the compassionate, comprehensive care she provides today. Amanda has been with PrimeCare since June 2023.
Brooke Boswell, FNP-C
Brooke Boswell is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a strong interest in preventive health and wellness. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Cincinnati in 2021, where she completed her training as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Brooke joined PrimeCare in September 2025.
After graduation, Brooke began her career in a busy internal medicine practice, gaining valuable experience caring for patients with complex and chronic medical conditions. She is committed to patient-centered care and believes in working collaboratively with her patients to develop individualized treatment plans rather than simply directing care.
Her emphasis on prevention, lifestyle, and early intervention reflects her commitment to helping individuals and families achieve long-term health and wellness. Outside of work, Brooke is a proud mom to three energetic boys. She and her family enjoy spending time outdoors and boating together, embracing the same active lifestyle she encourages in her patients.
Dara Wotherspoon, PA-C
Dara Wotherspoon joined PrimeCare in December 2016. As an Air Force dependent, she lived in several areas throughout the United States before making Stafford, Virginia her home. She graduated from North Stafford High School in 2006 and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from George Mason University in 2010.
Dara continued her education at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, where she earned her Master of Physician Assistant degree in 2014. She spent the first two and a half years of her career practicing primary care in the Fredericksburg area and developed a strong interest in evidence-based and preventive medicine.
Dara is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants. She is committed to providing compassionate, personalized primary care to the community. Outside of work, Dara enjoys spending time with her family and attending fitness classes.

Our urgent care team brings experience from emergency medicine, primary care, internal medicine, and other clinical settings to the treatment of acute illnesses, minor injuries, and non-emergency medical concerns.
Clifton Sheets, MD
Dr. Clifton Sheets graduated with honors from the Medical College of Virginia in 1983 and went on to complete a residency in Emergency Medicine at Wright State University. He served as Chief Resident in 1985 and, after completing residency in 1986, joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine.
In 1990, Dr. Sheets moved to Fredericksburg and joined the Emergency Department staff at Mary Washington Hospital, where he practiced for 16 years. During that time, he served as Department Chair, President of the Medical Staff, and President of the Fredericksburg Area Medical Society.
Dr. Sheets joined PrimeCare in 2006, became a partner in 2008, and has served as President and Medical Director since 2013. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a diplomate of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.
Andrea Roberts, PA-C
Andrea Roberts has practiced as a Physician Assistant in the Fredericksburg area since 2004 and joined PrimeCare in June 2020. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2001 and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, in 2003.
Andrea spent the first 17 years of her career practicing emergency medicine and also has experience in primary and urgent care. Her extensive clinical background allows her to bring a broad range of experience to the evaluation and treatment of acute illnesses and injuries at PrimeCare.
Andrea lives in the Fredericksburg area with her husband and two sons. Outside of work, she enjoys running, cooking, and, most importantly, spending time with her family.
Robert Glasgow, PA-C
Robert Glasgow joined PrimeCare in 2007 after serving nearly 30 years in the United States Navy. He has practiced as a Physician Assistant for more than 25 years, with a clinical background in primary care and a particular interest in infectious diseases.
Robert graduated magna cum laude from George Washington University in 1991 and has also completed postgraduate education in Family Medicine, Public Health, and Microbial Biodefense.
He is the Immediate Past President of the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants, a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, an affiliate member of the Medical Society of Virginia, and a lifetime member of the Naval Association of Physician Assistants.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys genealogical research and spending time with his family.
Darin Updyke, PA-C
Darin Updyke joined PrimeCare in 2005 and has practiced as a Physician Assistant in the Fredericksburg area since 1999. He earned his Physician Assistant degree from Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania.
Darin began his career in a local primary care and internal medicine practice, where he spent four years developing a strong foundation in outpatient medicine. He later transitioned into Emergency Medicine and has worked with Mary Washington Healthcare since 2004. His extensive experience across primary care, internal medicine, and emergency medicine brings a broad clinical perspective to the PrimeCare team.
Darin lives in the Fredericksburg area with his wife and two children. Outside of work, he enjoys local history and culture, outdoor activities, and traveling with family and friends.
